Six years ago I felt incredibly stuck.
I was sitting in the back seat of my life. Fifty percent present. I had gotten very good at pretending everything was okay all the time, and it wasn’t working for me anymore. I felt like part of the herd on a narrow passageway to my ultimate death.
I began my work with clients twenty years ago as a personal trainer/wellness coach, and became a psychotherapist at NEIU in 2002. And still, something was missing. The diagnostic system didn’t resonate with me. I wanted to go deeper. Once I reached the age of forty three I knew something had to change. Midlife crisis? Yes. But it was something more. I had this nagging feeling that I wasn’t moving into my purpose on the planet, and it was driving me crazy. I realized that I didn’t feel spiritually connected. This was the the missing link in my life and coaching practice. I left a ten-year relationship along with the house and the dogs, to embark on a spiritual journey.
I began a hot yoga practice, cleaned up my diet, and meditated regularly. The fog began to clear.
I started to view myself as a science experiment. Wanting to awaken from my dulled reality, I tried various forms of meditation, nutrition, spiritual practices, and workshops to find out which approaches worked best to keep me more self-aware and spiritually connected. I was a man on a mission.
I had a life changing experience at both Oneness University in India and Hoffman Institute in California.
I discovered that I had become a slave to programs of my mind and I was living on auto pilot. The experience of being gay, growing up Catholic, and being sexually abused as a child, colored my world with shame; keeping me small, feeling unworthy, and anxious, from living in constant fear. Survival mode. Shame infiltrated all areas of my life causing me tremendous suffering, even though I was completely unaware and in denial. As I became more aware, the claustrophobic room I existed in began to expand, giving me a sense of hope and possibility.
I’ve had the great fortune of working with an amazing spiritual counselor who guided me into the very places within me that I held in contempt with my own self judgement. Now I have with a new sense of self compassion that has expanded my consciousness and gotten me back in flow in my life. It’s been a game changer, and I’m deeply grateful. My own healing journey has been the base of the coaching work I do today. I’m here to inspire you to go deeper, to share what i have learned, and assist you in awakening to your personal truth. We are each unique eclectic people with our own path. Take what works for you and leave the rest behind. The point is to find your path, recognizing that the the road map and answers are already within you.
It is my passion to assist you in waking up from any perceptions that are holding you back from being who you are here to be in all areas of your life. I’m here to guide you back into the driver’s seat.
This is my purpose.
So, tell me your story. Telling your truth is the gateway to freedom.
